This console is reportedly something like an Xbox Lite, being smaller and cheaper than the current Xbox 360.
The new console will be ARM-based and will be sold at a price of "$100/£100". The idea behind this release is supposedly to further enable the adoption of the Kinect peripheral however, "[the device] will do games for core-audiences and the same media apps as the other device" as well so this suggests that it is very much an iteration of the Xbox 360.
If true, this rumour would explain why Microsoft's current stance on the next-generation Xbox is currently that there are no announcements to be made and that no announcements will come at E3. This rumour could also push the ETA of the next Xbox to 2014 or possibly even 2015, which happens to coincide with the ETA of the next PlayStation.
