One of the pro-PC
arguments I hear frequently is that Skyrim on Xbox cannot run mods.
This is in
part true. To run a PC mod, you would need to be able to execute unsigned code,
which is a bannable offence and would require the user to modify the inside of their
Xbox. This isn't the whole story though. If you decide that you want to mod a
gamesave, to play as a Dremora, have infinite magicka or, in today's case, have
a cooldown of zero seconds on dragon shouts, you can.
I will point
out that the rules are sketchy when it comes to modding a save while connected
to Xbox LIVE. Modding a save for a game that can be played online could end in
a ban, but modding a save on a profile you've created that IS NOT Xbox
LIVE enabled, won't result in a ban.
If you still
don't believe that an Xbox save can be modded, feel free to watch the following
video I created:
So do you
fancy messing with the unknown to make something new and exciting to play with?
Read on to explore to wonderful world of Xbox modding.
Before we
begin, make sure you have the following:
·
A USB memory
·
Skyrim for Xbox 360
·
Winrar
- To open and extract the VGI Goodies file
·
The VGI Goodies file: Which includes Modio and a
Skyrim Gamesave [Click Here]
·
A basic understanding of PC terminology
What will the
save do?
·
Allow the reader to play as a Khajiit-Greybeard
·
Have every in-game spell, developer spell,
in-game player shouts and dragon shouts
·
Have zero cooldown for all shouts

Have a modified Proudspire Manor with access to

Begin by
turning on your Xbox with the USB memory stick inserted. Once loaded create a
profile and do NOT set up Xbox LIVE.
Once created
head over to the Settings tab (on the far right) and format the memory stick so
that it can work on an Xbox. It may take a few minutes to format depending on
what memory stick you’re using.
Upon
completion load up Skyrim by clicking play game. Select your newly formatted
USB memory card when asked for a device, select new game and play to a point
where you can save to the memory card.
Don't
over-think the previous step, just boot, select USB memory card, play until you
can save.
When the save
has finish saving, turn the Xbox off and remove the USB memory card.
Now move to
your PC and extract the VGI Goodies file to somewhere on your PC. I extracted
the file to my desktop for ease.
Once completed
you should have a folder, open the folder and you should see a file named “Save
654 - VGI Proudspire Manor 08.51.50.ess” and a folder named “Modio”.
This is where
you can plug in your USB memory stick to your PC. Any pop-ups (like what do you
want to do?) can be closed and ignored.
Once plugged
in, you can open the Modio folder (located in the VGI Goodies File). You should
see another file in here also named Modio that has a blue icon with an 'M' on.
Double click this file to launch Modio and wait for it to load.
NOTE: Modio
may require different Microsoft Framework to run. If it doesn't run first time,
try right clicking Modio and select “run as administrator”. If it still doesn't
boot, read through the read me file for information on what you could be
missing.
Modio should
load a rectangular box with several options. You want to click where it says “Open
from a device”.
A window
should open with a square followed by a seemingly random selection of numbers.
This is your Xbox profile on your memory stick. Double click the title under
where it says name. This should now show you Skyrim, now double click
that. You should now be looking at
your game save.
Simply double
click the name of your save and a new window will open representing your save.
[Here is where
you need to pay attention.]
In the new
window you will see two options next to one another: General File Info
and File Contents. Click on File Contents.
You should be
confronted by Savegame.dat. Right click on Savegame.dat and
select Replace File from the menu that appears.
This will open
a window showing you the contents of your PC. Navigate to where you extracted “
Save 654 - VGI Proudspire Manor 08.51.50.ess” from the VGI
Goodies file (I extracted the file to my desktop for ease) and select it by
double click the file.
IMPORTANT: You
may think we're done. Not quite yet. The Xbox doesn't like your save and won't
run it as it is, so we need to give it some love.
Where you see General
File Info and File Contents. Now click on General File
Info.
At the bottom
of the window should be button named Rehash and Resign, click on this
and count to three.
Now it will
work without a hitch.
Finish up by
navigating up slightly and clicking Save to Device and double clicking
the profile that pops up.
You're now
ready to transfer the USB memory stick back into your Xbox and load up my
modded save, that is now your modded save.
If it works,
congratulations! This can sound overly complex, so expect to fail a few times
on your road to greatness. Trust me, once you've done it a few times, it'll
become second nature.
If parts of
this guide sound simplistic, that's not my intention. I think modding is great
fun, who doesn't want to have infinite Stamina? The reason there's reuse of sentences
and lots of bolded words is to try and help everything stick a little bit
easier and make as much sense as it can.

got any request, let us know in the comments and I’ll try to make a new save
each week based on popularity.
FYI: If you are worried about getting
banned, the rules of The Xbox
LIVE Terms of Use state:
You must not:
·
Exploit a bug, or make an unauthorized
modification, to any software or data to gain unfair advantage in a game,
contest, or promotion.
In short, don't mod it and play online. It's
a dickish thing to do and you'll make other gamer's experience rubbish. These
are the Xbox LIVE Terms of Use, NOT The offline Xbox Terms or Use.
