Lucas Arts have chosen the crush that is E3 to announce their next Star Wars game. Star Wars 1313 has been confirmed to feature an as-of-yet-unnamed bounty hunter on Coruscant.
If the bounty hunter shown off on Game Trailers TV is the hero of the escapade then it seems likely that the game will focus on a more roguish protagonist - what bounty hunter wasn't a bit of a rogue? - and seems to be following the, mostly correct, assumption that anti-heroes are always more interesting than heroes.
We are informed that '1313' refers to a level of Coruscant that is the lair of a "ruthless criminal underground deep below the surface of the planet Coruscant".
The small amount of information available seems to suggest that:
- SW1313 will be a third person game with a cinematic focus to gameplay
- There will be an arsenal of "exotic weaponry" open to the player
- There will be a series of missions involving the hunting of marks as the conspiracy unravels

I'm going to say it, I have to: I want Republic Commando 2 and I will not be happy until I get it! Right, time to stop whining like a blinkered fanboy. The slightly darker tone present is a welcome break from the recent trend of overly bright and dance-centric Star Wars games. It seems to suggest that Lucas Arts are ready to start taking their flagship IP seriously, again. That, hopefully, means good games for all! Other than that, I am going to hold my tongue until we have some more information.
